Student Outcomes are the knowledge, skills and abilities that our students will have acquired when graduating in Computer Engineering.
The ETSIInf has established a series of General Student Outcomes as a result of the revision of a series of international recommendations and guidelines, as well as external references and internal commissions set up for this purpose. Also, the School has defined its programs in agreement with requirements defined by the UPM and in line with its institutional mission and vision. In addition, the education program is aligned with the current Spanish labor market as it is derived from several socio-economic surveys, studies and commissions
The program has been designed to be compliant with the EUROINF European accreditation framework (which is intended as a broad common denominator, or overarching reference point, for the variety of informatics programs). Lastly, the program follows recommendations by the Computer Society of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), and the AIS (Association for Information Systems).
Moreover, the program has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, guaranteeing that all our graduates will attain the following Student Outcomes:
ABET (1) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
ABET (2) An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
ABET (3) An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
ABET (4) An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations, and make informed judgements, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
ABET (5) An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
ABET (6) An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
ABET (7) An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using learning strategies.
